If you wish to play the game without rules and regulations imposed on you by others, as a Lonewolf Tenderfoot you may do so - like any other player, you must still obey Sony's rule to "Play Nice!".

Promotions

In Lonewolf, you decide when you are ready for promotion.

Guild Members of the rank of White Wolf, Alpha Wolf and Smelly Nelly have the ability to promote other Members.

The Guild Ranks and the Promotion Quests are intended to provide an introduction to the way EverQuestII Guilds work, for the benefit of those who might not know. Veteran players will find that they can, if they wish, achieve Full Member status within the Guild very quickly. The promotions system is intended to minimise admin, hassle and Guild intrusion into Guild Members' virtual 'lives', leaving more playtime for FUN!

You promote yourself by completing Guild Promotion Quests (see below). The intention is to allow each Member to find his or her own niche within the Guild. If you think that you are ready for promotion, then you probably are!

All Guild Members 'above' you in Rank should be able to assist you with completing Promotion Quests, if you need help, as they will have done these Quests themselves :)

To promote yourself, simply complete the relevant Promotion Quest... and be patient (see Guild Rule #7). Please be considerate of any delays; the Member to whom you have sent your request may simply not have time to get to a mailbox. Just imagine that the Guild is huge instead of tiny (and maybe one day that will be true!). If you're doing a /tapfoot, take a look at the member list to see when the Member you applied to was last online (players have been known to take 'reality breaks' from the game!). You can always re-apply to another appropriate Member, if you feel you've waited long enough :)

Demotions

If your character is inactive for more than a month, you may be demoted. Upon your return, it's easy to get back to where you want to be :)

If you find that you are not happy - for whatever reason - in the rank you are currently in and think that you would feel more comfortable in a lower position, you may at any time request a promotion to any more junior rank :D

Removals

All players must obey Sony's rule to Play Nice. As the Guild can be held accountable for a Member's actions, those who persistently harrass others WILL be removed from the Guild. This is just so you know Guild Policy about it: it has not happened yet, and I hope it never will.

You will NOT be removed from the Guild due to absence (as long as your character is retained by Sony, naturally).

If your character is absent for a week, a month, a year... that's your choice. We'll miss you, and will welcome you back :D

Smelly Nelly

Lonewolf (currently, at least) has only one Guild Leader: "Smelly Nelly" AKA "Packfather" - an honorific awarded by Quartzite, thanks Q, for making me feel even more self-conscious :D

The duties of the Packfarter include, but are not limited to:

  • ensuring that the Guild Website is kept up to date
  • constantly re-organising the contents of the Guild Bank to confuse everyone
  • doing things that appear to contravene Guild Policies while checking stuff out
  • inadvertently upsetting Guild Members in good standing at every conceivable opportunity, always with the best intentions
  • endeavouring to please everyone, all of the time
  • trying his best to keep the Guild on track
  • pointing players out of the game at the Guild Website (DOH! irony, much?)

Smelly Nelly will at all times maintain an aura of pomposity and arrogance, while simultaneously claiming that he is in reality ever so 'umble and modest.

:D

Tenderfoot (previously: 'Pathfinder')

New entrants to the Guild - welcome!

Your only obligation as a Tenderfoot is to show respect to all other Members - and all other players. You don't even have to read this website - in fact, this is impossible, since this website does not exist ;)

As a Tenderfoot you may view the contents of the Guild Bank, but you cannot make deposits, nor make withdrawals. If you can see something in any Bank that your Lonewolf character needs, ask the Guild to have it withdrawn for you.

The Guild Bank is accessed by right-clicking on any friendly banker.

If you are a new player, you will find it beneficial to:

  • seek out your class trainer
  • consult a crafting trainer
  • buy a merchant board, place it in your inn room, and use it to browse the market.

If you should need help with any of these, please ask!

If you want promotion in the Guild, read on...

Promotion Quest for Tenderfoots: Finding the Path

  1. Gather Tunare's Blessings from five (or more) of the Druid Circles.
  2. Check out the Guild Charter and browse this website a little.
  3. Learn Guild Bank Rule #1:
    • "Remove items your Lonewolf character can use, but leave one behind"
  4. Send a Norrath Express message to an appropriate Member of the Guild with the subject line "Tenderfoot Quest", confirming that
    • your character
      • has gathered Tunare's Blessings from five of the Druid Rings;
      • is the only character you have in the Lonewolf Guild;
    • you
      • are the only person who will 'drive that toon';
      • understand and agree to abide by Guild Bank Rule #1.

Pup

As a Lonewolf Pup, you:

  • are able to display the Guild Name along with your own name to players outside the Guild (the Guild Name is always visible to all players within the Guild)
  • may alter your own Personal Notes in the Guild Members Window
  • may withdraw items from Guild Bank #1 for your Lonewolf character's own use

Promotion Quest for Pups: What Goes Around

  1. Do the Quest 'Bridge Keep Threats'.
  2. Read the Guild Bank Policy. Cubs only need to know the Condensed Version.
  3. Do a little harvesting (consider looking for A Friend In Need first).
  4. Unload "unwanted" items into the Guild Bank in accordance with the Guild Bank Policy.
  5. Send a mail by Norrath Express to an appropriate Guild Member with the subject line "Pup Quest" confirming that
    • your character can open the gates to Bridge Keep in Thundering Steppes at night
    • you agree to abide by the Guild Bank Policy.

Cub

As a Lonewolf Cub, you:

  • can buy Status items
  • have access to Guild Banks #1 and #2 for your Lonewolf character's own use
  • are requested to help the Guild by depositing items in the Guild Bank in accordance with the current Guild Bank Policy.

Promotion Quest for Cubs: Society's Needs

  1. Choose a crafting profession.
  2. Discover how to turn in GSP Loot for Status.
  3. Visit all of the City Heralds (the "Writ givers").
  4. Assist a friend with completing one of his / her Writs.
    • Your friend may belong to another Guild.
    • If you choose to arrange it so that you both do the same Writ: killing two birds with one stone is never a bad idea.
  5. Having completed the above, send a Norrath Express message to an appropriate Member of the Guild with the subject line 'Cub Quest'.
    • You can leave the message blank: the Guild wishes to trust that you have done what is required.

Note that the important thing here is to know where to go to get Writs - so that you can point others, who may not know, in the right direction. As a Lonewolf Guild Member, you do not have to do any Writs for the Guild - not now, not ever :D

Wolverine

As a Lonewolf Wolverine, you:

  • have access to Guild Banks #1, #2 & #3 for your Lonewolf character's own use
  • are entitled to request your own Guild Bank Allotment

Wolverines are requested (but never required!) to:

  • invite other non-guilded players to join the Guild (using the command '/guild invite playername')
  • assist all other players (not just Guild Members), especially with Access Quests (as these help others to help others!), Heritage Quests and Guild Writs
  • join the sga chat channel (and perhaps add it to the 'Guild Hall' chat tab if they have one)
  • periodically check to see what other Lonewolf Guild Members have for sale on the broker
  • publicise your own personal Main Quest (MQ) using your Personal Notes in the Guild Members list
  • display the Guild's website address in your character's biography - i.e. just the single line: http://lonewolf.everquest2guilds.com

Promotion Quest for Wolverines: Don't think. FEEL.

  1. Do the quest line that results in 'true' access to The Cove of Decay (this is NOT 'Treaty for Treasure', NOT 'Epic Angler', NOT 'The Horror Beneath'!)
  2. Read the Grey Wolf Rank description below and familiarise yourself with the requirements of the Rank
  3. If you agree to comply with the requirements and wish to apply for promotion, send a Norrath Express message to an appropriate Member of the Guild with the subject Line 'Wolverine Quest', confirming that you have 'true' access to The Cove of Decay.

Grey Wolf

As a Grey Wolf, you:

  • have access to all sections of the Guild Bank for the purpose of furthering Guild Objectives.

Grey Wolves must agree to just two things:

  1. to show hood or helm at all times - if it's being worn
  2. to turn off the experience bar window

As a Grey Wolf you are recommended to play (experiment) with the roleplay (/role) and anonymous (/anon) toggles. Note that you are NOT forced to use them. Using either of these has the advantage of making your character harder to find by others; a downside is - they make your character harder to find by others!

Grey Wolves are requested (but not obliged!) to consider playing with the overhead combat feedback numbers disabled. These numbers can be enabled / disabled using the toggle under:

Options > User Interface > Name and Chat Bubble > show overhead combat feedback

Allow XP to happen just by playing the game

Grey Wolves must agree to turn off the experience bar window (by using ALT+x). Note that this means turning off the display only - you are not expected to disable experience altogether! The purpose of this is to remove the distraction of worrying about XP, debt and vitality, and free you to concentrate on the FUN!

The little-bit-tricky bit

Just in case you're not fully familiar with EQ2's in-game options I'll labour the point about 'ALT+x' here, because if you don't get it right you may find that bits of your HUD (Head Up Display) can disappear :(

When you press ALT+x you may hear a "Bong!" noise, and get a red message "That window cannot be hidden". Somewhere in your chat output you may see:

To enable hiding of HUD windows uncheck 'Keep Main HUD Windows Visible' located in Options > User Interface > Game Windows

Follow this advice to allow ALT+x to remove the experience bar from your main display. This is only a display option, the window can be recovered by using ALT+x again.

BUT

after you've hidden the experience bar window, check the 'Keep Main HUD Windows Visible' option again - so that you don't accidentally hide other important windows too! ALT+h, for example, would hide your spell icon bars. It's easy to hit the wrong combination of keys, especially in the heat of battle, so re-enabling this protection is quite important.

Also note that there is a duplicate experience bar in your Persona Window (press 'P'). So if you want to sneak a look occasionally at your XP numbers, you can easily check it there. But I didn't say that :)

White Wolf

Grey Wolves may apply for promotion to White Wolf at any time, as long as they have achieved at least one 'MentorDing': a level 'ding' gained while mentoring. Applications for promotion to the Rank of White Wolf must be made in person, in the Druzaic tongue.

White Wolves agree to:

  1. Practice Mentoring
  2. Deal with Promotion Requests
  3. Accept group invites from Guild Members without preamble if they're free

Practice Mentoring

As a White Wolf you are expected to work on your mentoring skills. Note that there is no requirement prior to this rank for Members to engage in mentoring at all, although all Members are encouraged to try it.

White Wolves are expected to avoid fighting grey mobs, wherever possible, although in some situations it is simply unavoidable. Undertaking to attempt to fight everything "in colour" provides an impetus for seeking out lower level characters for mentor practice.

Examples of how a White Wolf can help other players using mentoring include:

  • taking on hard-to-find but important quest denizens such as Stiletto (Stiletto's Orders Intercepted, reward: the indispensable Manastone), and the Lightbringer Wisp (Return of the Light, reward: Greater Lightstone, fantastic in those dungeon environments). In such cases, try to find help to bring colour into the encounter. If the quest is not your own and there is simply no one available, take the grey down if you want to. If, however, it is for your own quest... as a White Wolf you are expected to wait, your time has not yet come.
  • helping someone in exile kill their thousand sentients for the Bone Bladed Claymore Heritage Quest. Find someone you both can mentor and rid Antonica of those dastardly gnolls! The low-level character gets bonus XP, the BBC questor gets his quest moved along, and you have done your bit to help :)

White Wolves are encouraged to try to hold in their bags as many Heritage Quest starter items as they can: Stiletto's Orders, Burned-out Lightstone etc. These items are 'LORE', so only one per character can be held. If you try to keep such spares on you, when you help a group to take down the beastie that drops the quest starter, a loser on the lotto can still be a winner :)

Promote junior Members

White Wolves have the duty of dealing with promotion requests.

If a promotion request indicates that the applicant is unsure about any aspect of the required Rank, please clarify this with the Member before approving the promotion.

Please respond to promotion requests from other Members promptly. But don't stress out over it - remember it's only a game :)

Group Formation

Before inviting someone to group, it's courteous to make contact first. However, this can slow up group formation.

  • White Wolves agree to be willing to accept group /invite requests from other Guild Members whenever they are free to group.

White Wolves should always feel free to decline group invitations if they are otherwise occupied or cannot spare the time to help. It's perfectly acceptable for a White Wolf to choose to auto-decline invites.

Alpha Wolf

The Rank of Alpha Wolf may be offered to any Guild Member who has consistently demonstrated support of the Policies and Objectives of the Guild.

There is NO obligation on the part of an Alpha Wolf to participate in mentoring. If your character is more artisan than adventurer, you can still reach 'the top' :)

Alpha Wolves have the ability to promote other Guild Members up to the rank of White Wolf (see White Wolf section above for further details on promotion duties).

White Wolves and Alpha Wolves are considered to be Guild Officers of equivalent rank: the only difference is that one has chosen the path of the mentor, and the other has not.

Rank Reviews

Nobody knows it all. When you put yourself in another's shoes, it's possible to gain a better understanding of that person's point of view.

Alpha Wolves are requested to consider performing occasional Rank Reviews, with a view to exploring whether the current Rank structure is relevant - given that things always change - and discussing possible modifications with the current Guild Leader(s).

A Rank Review entails a voluntary 'promotion' to Tenderfoot, followed by a 'climb back up the ladder', with a pause at each Rank in order to assess whether any changes to the Rank might be worth considering.
