The theory behind the Guild Bank Policy is:
It's probably easiest to illustrate by example. I (as a woodworker) need feyiron clusters to make Spirit of the Wolf totems. But my own harvesting skill does not benefit from harvesting these (they are 'grey' to me!). It makes more sense for Members whose skill will benefit from the activity to harvest this needed raw material. I, in turn, can harvest things that other Members may need. Note that, because many of the item icons are (for some odd reason that I can't fathom) identical graphics - roots, for example - positional information is used in the Guild Bank. Each slot is reserved for one specific item, allowing players to find what they need with relative ease, once they get used to where things are. 1. Remove items your Lonewolf character can use, but leave one behind Take whatever items your Lonewolf character can use from the Guild Bank at any time, if you have access. Access rights to the bank are:
All Members (including Tenderfoots) can see what is in all four of the Guild Banks. If you as a Member can see something in any Bank that your Lonewolf character needs, just ask a Member who does have appropriate withdrawal rights to remove the item(s) for you. Please remove raws your Lonewolf character can use often, especially if the slot is full to capacity - this frees up space that can then be filled by other Members whose skill may benefit from this harvesting activity. If a Bank slot contains multiple items do NOT empty the slot completely: leave at least one of that item in the slot, as a placeholder for more! If you do take all items from a slot, please put one back in. Shift + Left Mouse Button click & drag (default, I think) should allow you to select the number of items you want to remove from an inventory slot. 2. Aim to fill the Bank, but leave empty slots clear Unload items you don't currently need into non-full Bank slots. For instance, unload GSP Loot items into the relevant slots in Guild Bank #3. This frees up valuable space in your own inventory! BUT: please do not place anything in empty Guild Bank slots. Empty slots are reserved for totems (Spirit of the Wolf, Otter, Chameleon etc) - if your Lonewolf character can make these, please fill up empty slots with them! Note that as at the time of writing, the behaviour of the Guild Bank is a bit odd when trying to move stuff into a Guild Bank Slot where doing so would fill it up, or over-fill it (I have /bug reported this so maybe it will be fixed by the time you read this). 3. Take cash if your Lonewolf character needs it If your character needs cash, take it from the Guild Bank as cash. Members are trusted not to abuse this facility; there are daily limits set on how much you may withdraw - this does NOT mean that you are entitled to withdraw this amount every day! If you do truly need more than you are allowed to withdraw, approach a Guild Officer with your request. Leaders and Ossifers (Spirit, Alpha and White Wolves) have higher limits on withdrawals - but these are intended to enable movement of cash between the four Banks as required. Members of these Ranks may still take cash if it is needed, but as loans only. Cash withdrawals made by these Members must be repaid. If you have too much cash (!) please consider donating some to the Guild by depositing it into Guild Bank #2. You are NOT entitled to remove things from the Guild Bank purely to sell for cash. Exceptions:
4. Only take one 'large' item at a time "Large items" are defined as those that take up a whole slot by themselves, such as bags and strong boxes. Please take only ONE "large item" of the same type at a time (i.e. no more than one every week), even if there are several in the Guild Bank that you can use. Be considerate of others' needs! Exception: you can take as many Spirit of the Wolf totems as you can use, within reason, in accordance with the Guild Objective to maintain the supply of these totems. Seefar |

GSP is "Guild Status Points" (check out Sesketh's GSP Loot Guide of Tasty Goodness). Lonewolf isn't GSP-hungry: the Guild will level as fast as the Members, collectively, want us to. But - there's no point in throwing Status away! :D Guild Bank #3 is the "GSP Loot Repository": a temporary holding place for those items that can be traded for cash and Status, in the right places. All Members are encouraged to free up room in their own inventories by unloading GSP Loot into the Repository. Note: If your Lonewolf character wins GSP Loot, you are not forbidden to pass this to any alternative characters you may have. It's entirely your choice what you do with loot you have yourself earned. Wolverines and above who are planning to head to a merchant that will buy these items for Status as well as cash, are encouraged to remove as many of these items from the Bank as they can carry. Please leave one of each behind (Guild Bank Rule #1). Those who value personal Status and have the time spare to do the merchant run are rewarded by their efforts to help the Guild Bank to clean itself. Any players who take GSP Loot from the Guild's Bank and transfer it to their alts in other Guilds will be pelted with rotten tomatoes :P Seefar |

Full Members (i.e. Wolverines and above) who need quantities of an item may request an 'Allotment'. An 'Allotment' is simply one or more slots in the Guild Bank that are allocated to a Member, for the purpose of defining what type of items are to be deposited in that slot. Note that any Member may remove needed items from any slot to which they have access, and this includes other Members' Allotments - it's all good! Allotments are numbered in the sequence Bank-Row-Column. Slot #111 refers to Bank 1, Row 1, Column 1; #225 is Bank 2, Row 2, Column 5. For instance, let's say your Allotment is #225, and you need a large quantity of cloves for your cooking. You're short of time... so you go to the broker, buy a single clove and place it in #225: Bank 2, Row 2, Column 5. You log off to do your own thing IRL - and when you return, #225 contains 20 cloves. If you need more, you only take 19 out, leaving one behind to say 'more please!' - or (as the Allotment 'owner') you can empty the slot and put another something else in that you need, in its place. If you leave your Allotment empty for too long, your Allotment rights may be revoked :P Talk to me (Seefar) to get your own Guild Bank Allotment and get the Guild working for you :D Seefar |

Even the very largest Guild Bank can soon get clogged up with items deposited with the best of intentions, but which are at present unwanted by any Guild Members. The Magic Item Distribution Policy is intended to provide a means of distributing items to those who are most likely to be able to make use of them. When you return to the City after an adventure, you may have Spell and Recipe books, armour and weaponry that are of no use to your Lonewolf character. You may have alternate characters that could make use of these: being a Lonewolf Guild Member does NOT forbid you to pass items to your alts (there is no way to enforce such a rule if it were implemented). It's also your choice to sell such items to merchants, or through the Broker if you wish. However, please consider the alternative outlined below. Firstly, think of your friends (in OR out of Lonewolf). Are any of them of an adventure/artisan class appropriate to these items? Whether they need the items or not, if you mail them gifts they will think kindly of you. You might include a request that if the item cannot be used by your friend then it should be passed on to someone else. Norrath Express mailboxes aren't that big, you will want to discourage the return of unwanted gifts! If none of your friends is of an appropriate class for the item, take a look at the Lonewolf Guild Members list. Are there any Full Members (i.e. Wolverine and above) who are of an appropriate class? You should only consider those who have logged in recently: characters have been known to vanish without trace from Norrath (I wonder where they go - perhaps they need to get away from the smell?). If there is more than one who might be able to use the item, then conduct your own lottery to decide who wins the prize, using: /random (which generates a random number between 1 and 100) for each eligible Member. Highest number wins! (Note: this technique is commonly used to distribute loot in raids, so knowing about /random is to your advantage!) Don't worry too much about the level in deciding "appropriate class": if someone is too low a level for an item now, it probably won't be long before they can use it! One thing worth noting: when someone sends you something through Norrath Express, you can leave such items in your mailbox until you're ready to use them (a space-saving hint that is hindered by the fact that it is - currently - not possible to Right-click-examine items in the mail). After checking whether you have another friend or Guild Member who might be able to use an item, instead of approaching a merchant, consider offering items for sale via the Broker. Unsold ones may then be available to appropriate Guild newcomers. In this way new Members will see an immediate benefit of Membership, and hopefully be encouraged to stay :) If you are the beneficiary of gifts from other Guild Members that are of no use to your own Lonewolf Guild Member, please pass them on to other Guild Members. Chatting and Grouping aren't the only ways to communicate fellowship! Seefar |
